Welcome to the First Aid Training – Our First Aid Level 1 course prepares learners for emergencies like CPR, choking, burns, fractures and other workplace accidents. This is an ideal course for workplace new first aiders or individuals who want to refresh their first aid qualifications.
Course Overview
During this First Aid training, you will gain the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform basic life support (CPR) and administer first aid to persons feeling the initial impact of bleeds, burns, fractures, soft tissue injuries, and poisons. In addition, you can recognise the warning signs and symptoms of someone who is experiencing the negative effects of a medical condition and be able to aid until the casualty recovers or emergency services arrive and take over.

Provide basic life support and first aid by developing the knowledge, skills, and confidence to respond effectively to workplace and community emergencies until professional medical assistance arrives.
1. Understand and respond to hazards to ensure the safety of yourself, the casualty, and others at the emergency scene.
2. Assess an emergency situation and activate the appropriate emergency response procedures.
3. Perform primary and secondary casualty assessments.
4. Assess and assist a collapsed or injured person.
5. Perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) on an adult casualty.
6. Use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) where available.
7. Control foreign body airway obstructions (choking).
8. Place an unconscious breathing casualty in the recovery position.
9. Control external bleeding using appropriate first aid techniques.
10. Apply basic first aid to wounds, cuts, abrasions, burns, and scalds.
11. Recognise and manage fractures, sprains, strains, and dislocations.
12. Recognise and treat shock until medical assistance arrives.
13. Provide first aid for seizures, asthma attacks, diabetic emergencies, and fainting.
14. Recognise the signs and symptoms of heart attacks and strokes and provide appropriate first aid.
15. Respond to poisoning, allergic reactions, bites, and stings.
16. Apply infection prevention and control measures during first aid treatment.
17. Demonstrate the correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE) during first aid.
18. Communicate effectively with casualties, bystanders, and emergency services.
19. Record and report first aid incidents according to workplace procedures.
20. Demonstrate confidence and competence in providing first aid until professional medical assistance takes over.
